International Surfing Day 2012 with Central Florida Surfrider & Friends
While International Surfing Day may be June 20th, we are celebrating it early this year! Join us at Dinky Dock from 10am-2pm on Sunday June 17th for free SUP demos (from Rogue Stand Up Paddleboards and Maui B’s Stand Up Paddleboarding) and more!!! Stayed tuned for more details to come. Looking for new Chapter Executive Committee
Surfrider prides itself on being inclusive and mindful that new attitudes and perspectives, in short ‘new blood’, is needed every year to keep the chapter active and thriving. This is an opportunity for members to get more involved with steering the organization as well as choose who they feel is best qualified to lead them.
Election Time Frame
Elections will be open from May 1– June 1. Elections for positions on the Chapter Executive Committee will be held at our June Chapter Meeting.
How does the Election work?
Any current Surfrider member should submit a self-nomination that they would like to hold a specific leadership position. Email the Chapter centralflorida@surfrider.org if you are interested in one of these positions.
What positions are available?
The Executive Committee has the following positions:
(Co)Chair – Ambassador & point of contact person, delegates responsibilities as needed.
Vice-Chair – Performs duties as assigned by Chair, fulfills Chair’s role when absent.
Secretary – Records minutes, keeps records and manages chapter email communications.
Treasurer – Manages financial records, receives and disburses funds.
Volunteer Coordinator – Recruits members, manages monthly updates to member list.
At-Large Seats (2) – Entry Level leadership, assist officers, provide input and perspective.
Other Skilled Positions
Media Coordinator –maintains a media contact list, assists officers in communicating with media, and update chapter website/facebook as needed.
Events Coordinator – maintains vendor contacts, assists officers with organizing events like beach clean up

Beach Clean Up, Next meeting and more
We will meet at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach around 10 am for a beach clean up this Saturday April 7th.
Bring your own water bottle and snacks.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday April 10th.

The Rollins College Environmental Club is having a beach clean up Saturday 3/24 starting around 10am at the Lori Wilson Park. They will be leaving from the
Cornell Museum at 8:30am if anyone is interested in leaving from Rollins. Bring you own water bottle, light snacks provided. Contact us for more info.
