Surfrider Central Florida
has members that fall into a few important congressional districts that can influence WRDA- the Water Resources Development Act. The targets in Florida would be Rep. Webster (parts of Orlando, Leesburg), Rep. Brown (parts of Jacksonville, Orlando, Seminole, etc.), and Rep. Frankel (West Palm to Ft. Lauderdale) who are on the conference committee to finalize the legislation. You can check out their district maps on their congressional websites if you are wondering where their districts are located.
Surfrider Central Florida will be holding our December meeting Friday December 6th. Please come out and hear what we have upcoming.
We will be discussing, at length, our opposition to H.R. 1948 and what we can do to prevent this disastrous bill from becoming law.
We will also talk about our Beach Cleanup at Satellite Beach on December 7th and our Storm Drain marking on December 14th.

Surfrider Central Floridahas a busy November and December planned and we need to your help to make an impact. Here is what is coming up.Please send any replies or correspondence to email@example.com
- November 16th and 17th – volunteers needed to “table” at the Art, Craft, and Wine Festival at Crane’s Roost Park 10am-6pm (5pm Sunday). If you have not “tabled” before, do not worry – we will be there to help. It is a great way to meet people and really learn what Surfrider is all about.
- December 7th – Beach Clean up at Satellite Beach – details to follow. The Ocean Reef Beach Festival will be kicking off as we are finishing the clean up so a full fun family day.
- December 14th – Our Inaugural Storm Drain Marking Day. Surfrider Central Florida is partnering with Seminole county to help storm drain raise awareness at various locations throughout the county. Details to follow.
- Call and write your Congressman – there is currently a bill in committee that is designed to Prevent the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from requiring states to update and revise water quality standards that don’t adequately protect rivers, lakes, springs, and estuaries. Please stay on alert for an email coming soon that will detail the bill. We will also include everything you need to know to bring your dissatisfaction to the Bill’s sponsor Representative John Mica.
