For Hands Across the Sand this year, the Central Florida Chapter will be joining the Volusia/Flagler Chapter. This means that the line of joined hands will be longer than ever this year at the Hartford Approach (1900 N. Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach, 32118, look for the Surfrider flags)…you don’t want to miss it!
We will meet on the beach at 10 am on Saturday, May 21 to do a beach clean up. We’ll reconvene at our tent around 11:30 to get ready to join hands at 12 pm for 15 minutes. Handmade signs opposing seismic testing/offshore drilling are welcome, see photos from our past events for ideas!
Visit www.handsacrossthesand.com for more info about this movement but please realize this is not about politics, it is about protecting our coastal economies, oceans, marine wildlife, fisheries and our land environment!
A beach cookout will immediately follow at 12:30. Remember your reusable water bottles/cups. We will have hot dogs/veggie dogs and snacks. Feel free to bring a dish to share!
Note about parking: You cannot drive onto the beach at Hartford but you can drive on at Williams and drive South to meet us at Hartford.
